You don't have to tell us the details if its personal. But, can you think of any reason for the extra checks? I do not know... maybe a trip to a "dangerous" part of the world? Family members who might have criminal history? Things like that?

Nope, I submitted all the required docs when sent the whole package, including PCC from China (but no PCCs inside Canada since my friend told me it is not required to submit Canadian PCC)

Wait for GCMS, in mean while reach out CSIS if they have completed their checks and reach out to your local MP's office ,I know a colleague of mine who reached out to his MP and will not say his case got expedited , as it has already crossed 13 months,but got his decision within in month....

No. I have not tried it before. Read page one more time.
They want you to call IRCC for general PR file status.
If you want Security Screening from CSIS then you need to mail or fax them with following details:
- a full name,
- date and place of birth,
- the signature of the applicant, and
- a return mailing address as replies are not sent by email or fax.

I need an advice.. I have applied for Quebec skilled worker programme in 2014 from dubai. Still waiting for CSQ. Meanwhile I thought of moving to Canada by student visa and continue my masters.. I don't want to delay my studies. Immigration officer adviced I can take my family along..
