I see the others answered the other query. Ya drop the IRB claim asap.
If you had reasonable bona fide for your sponsorship file, then an IRB claim shouldn't have been made. It added additional pressure to an already overloaded system, and if the IRB file was heard and refused before your decision on sponsorship, then CIC would have refused the file based on Refugee rules... Did they advise you of that? That would have been a disaster
Hi there good people. I'm new to this forum. We are June 2015 applicant. We received our AIP last October 2016, after that no news from IRCC. I just want to know if there's any June 2015 pending in the same boat as mine. My work permit is gonna expire on September and my lawyer wanted us to renew again for another set of fees. I have read that it takes 4mos to process the work permit extension at this time. Looking forward to landing in Etobicoke. Kindly advise. Please and thank you.
Wow. And your lawyer has yet to speak up to CIC? To involve your MP? You're almost at 25 months!
OK, well, you can submit yourself and save yourself the fees. Look in my signature. Takes about a half hour or so.
IMHO: it's time to call your MP and bypass your lawyer. This is an indication there is something probably wrong here. I didn't think there is any 2015's left. They are in the summer of 2016 now....

Long overdue.. even though you're within the 26 months timeframe you probably could've landed a longtime ago. Lawyer is most likely taking you for a ride! $$$$
He has to send the passport siezure form from CBSA. More importantly, and correct me if I am wrong here, but you cannot have a Refugee claim in parallel with Family Sponsorship. I am reasonably certain these are mutually exclusive. So, if he has AIP (and you're 100% certain), I think you'd better withdraw that Refugee claim. I'd check with your MP tomorrow. Because a failed Refugee claim can result in a 5 year ban on any other applications to Canada...
Adding new case info will cause a delay at this stage. If I am right in my statement above, that's a good thing to buy you time to drop the IRB claim..
Not necessarily correct, you can have a refuge claim along with another application in process. Many people have done it. Also cic knows that cbsa has his passport and should request it on his behalf when passport request comes along. This is as far as I know, with ppl who have gone through that process. Having a refugee claim pending, and you started another application before the case is called, then you are fine. If you do have a failed claim, and then try to do another process, especially spousal, then it creates major red flags. I agree with you on the part of having AIP, go ahead and withdraw refugee claim.
Yeah I know. I've been reading this thread since I was pregnant, my daughter is turning 2 years old now and still no news about our application. Actually, to give credit to our lawyer, she's been sending email inquiries to IRCC to follow up, but still no answer.

The IRB claim was made in 2015 the sponsorship application was sent December 2016... we haven't heard a thing yet from the IRB so we are going tomorrow to drop it.
