I would write "unemployed". "Gap year" might be too vague... But in any case, what they care about the most is where you were at that point, so that they can build the entire timeline. So, just write a status that says she was not working or studying, and make sure to specify where she was living then.

Is the 13 month processing time just a guidance ? its been 7 months since they received my application and 4 months since I received AOR and my file hasn't moved an inch. According to their website , they take about 3 months to process medical results , so basically I am expecting a miracle to happen for my application to be processed within 13 months timeframe.

I received a "bulk" email to submit RPRF, PCC, Schedule-A etc. few days after AOR and am yet to get MR. Same "bulk" email was sent to several other applicants on same day.
