I just did it , good news , even if you dont do exactly 2 years , it still counts . So the law is not only for 2 years and more staying before PR.
Also even you do a vacations before PR , they dont reduce days number. Because in the calculator they didnt ask for vacations.

In the calculator , it is not allowed to do a futur PR date , so i did as i got my PR on may.

Anytime spent in Canada in last 2 years "legally" before PR will count as half-day and after PR will count as full day.

Anytime spent outside of Canada ( before PR or after PR) won't be counted. This includes vacationing outside Canada. While submitting Citizenship application you will need to submit a form documenting days spent inside Canada and outside Canada. Dates mentioned in the form should match with information that CBSA has for your profile.

Pffff....it's a big week end...it seems all of the CIC agents are off. It's not fair! Why don't they give us our PR!? It's time to be free for all of us!

I'm sorry to be so frustrated, but I can't wait anymore...

How can you manage the stress?

Follow this -
  • Say you want to check if your will be eligible on day X.
  • Go five years back from day X. Forget everything that was before that five-year line. It will not count under any circumstances ever.
  • Count the days you spent in Canada as a resident but without being a PR (e.g. study permit, work permit, visitor visa while living with your spouse, ... Do NOT count tourist days). Call that number A.
  • If A is a number higher than 730, set A to 730.
  • Count the days you spent in Canada as a permanent resident. Call that number B.
  • Do the following calculation: M = A/2 + B
  • M is the magic number. If M is 1,095 or more, you are eligible to apply for citizenship on day X.

It's hard to manage the anxiety. I sure understand you!

I've been trying to forget about it, distract myself from those thoughts.

If you find a better way, let me know :)

Waiting for DM and PPR here. Paris VO, but living in Montreal with a work permit!

Good luck everyone!

I'm just pretty upset about this traitement. We're proving every day that we would be Canadian, we're part of the country (and the economy)...But all we have it's the right to wait. Paris V.O is more efficient than Ottawa V.O. As I said I'm here since 5 years but my file takes more time than somebody else who never travels in Canada. Why? Because I choose to stay in Canada during the application. If I came back to France, I get my PR yet! It's not fair.

This is my story but I know I'm far to be the only one.

Now we know that we need to wait...again...ten days to wait for nothing...again...

Received my GCMS/CAIPS notes today.

My application is stuck on Criminality: In Progress. My best guess is that this is due to my late submission of PCC ( after AOR).

Dorian, dancingfrog, lewisxaing, QS2017, itsjap89 and Bestocoto ( others guys with delayed MR)

Did you submit your PCC alongwith application or after AOR?

No email, just MyCIC status has changed. Also even though it says "Check your messages below for details." there is no message. I think it is COPR and will come by mail with my passport
And under "View my submitted applications or profiles" section it can be read that "Permanent Residency" is "Approved".

There is no change in ECAS. Still same as "Decision made"

Congratulations gnole and good luck!
plz later share your passport mailing and landing experience

Since the valid duration for PCC is 12 months/one-year, I would expect that CIC will finish at least the background check within 12 months after the submission of App if the PCC was submitted in the original App. Am I correct? Then I can definitely expect my DM by the end of this month or late beg of next month. Or is it possible that they'll further request new PCC for processing background check??

Yeah the best part is inland applicants of express entry are getting PPR in 45-60 days after applying ..it seems QSWP are relegated on back burner .inspite of paying taxes and contributing to economy :-((((

Received my CAIPS/GCMS notes today.

It seems that Background check consists of 2 phases : Criminality Check ( RCMP + PCC) and Security Check( by Intelligence agencies).

Criminality check is first step and is done within a day of AOR ( provided you have submitted PCC along with application).

Second step ( it seems) is Security Check + Medicals. Security check runs in parallel with Medical check. If you already received MR then most likely you are done with Criminality check and your application is stuck at Security check.
