So whats the use of pcc?
If an individual have "suspicious past". Thats not difficult to find, the first gravel that jumps up , might cause the red flag
But
When the person is clean. . . Should it really take , 5,6,7 etc months?
I am ok with it being a process, i accept that. I think its a process that can be improved for greater efficiency.
There is the saying

Some foreign nationals do work for foreign governments intent on spying or disrupting. They spend much time and are good in tradecraft hiding Thier true identities. I can share a story where a whole family of Russian spies had set up shop for decades...

That said, it's easy to say 3-6 mos. We agree that is an acceptable time.

With world migration patterns, and the fact that CSIS rely heavily on international partners to help, lower priority cases (not to say that they really are..but the feds do have a driver to bring in more skilled workers) end up suffering WRT time.

Checked status this morning....both status now say "decision made"...nothing else has changed anywhere...should I be happy? nervous? worried? or all of the above? lol!!

Yeah it will wildly vary depending on the office closest to you (based on postal code). Some are a day or two, some are 8 weeks. But, DM with none of the other bad stuff (negative letters, etc) means you're going to land.

Ok, so landing.....excuse me for not understanding landing very well, hadnt thought much past getting the approval...so, landing means my sponsor and I physically go somewhere? We are in Newfoundland, that means a flight somewhere?

I guess that is not *terrible*, but I have issues with CIC's concentration of offices. But, I suppose, if I was living in Tuktoyaktuk, I should expect to have to travel *somewhere*.

You and your sponsor will have to both be present. You will answer a couple questions (they are not intended to be a test). They will make you sign, they will sign, and hand you a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) document. They will apply for your PR card on your behalf, and welcome you to Canada.

You will need to have passport-sized photo's taken (they have to be less than a year old), so if there isn't a place nearby, you might want to arrange that too.

You cannot get a Canadian passport until you get citizenship, so you must keep your current passport.
Questions are simple, like have you committed any crime in Canada or anywhere else in the world? Do you have any dependents that are not already listed on the application? To the sponsor, do you still want to sponsor your wife?
So really, don't worry about the questions.

The questions can change, but again, they are not intended to be a test -- they have already decided to admit you.

Check here for regulations around when you can apply (with a PR you can for absolute certainty): http://www.health.gov.nl.ca/health/mcp/index.html You can take your COPR document to that office.

SIN, you can go down to the Service Canada in St John's: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/tbsc-fsco/sc-dsp.jsp?lang=eng&rc=1137 when you are there. You can get the permanent SIN when you have your COPR in hand...
