Hi everyone,

I have a sponsorship application going on and I just renewed my open work permit. However, something strange just happened tonight of which I would like a clarification. I paid $255 for the renewal of the open work permit and it was renewed for 6 months. I was going through my credit card statement a couple of mins ago and discovered that a $100 was returned from the $255 paid. Has this ever happened to anyone? Did I overpay or the returned money was a mistake from IRCC?

$255 was the correct amount. Did they return that money, or was there an error in processing it?

They returned the money yesterday and they have already issued the renewal since May 11th. I am confused because the actual price for open work permit is $255

We requested on April 21 but made a mistake on the consent form and IRCC contacted us for an updated form on May 11, returned the form back to them on the same day and they sent us the the GCMS notes on May 19. So overall just under a month - although I somehow feel that our mistake made the process faster (and we also got the notes dated for May 12 instead of the original request date).

So, they returned the OWP Holder Fee ($100). After they issued the OWP? That tells me that, I guess, the OWP Holder Fee is a one time payment?

Quick question for those with landing - for confirmation of the $490 payment, did we just take the $1040 receipt with the barcode since $490 is part of it?

We brought our $1115 receipt (the web over-charged us) and we told them the RPRF was included in that. They took it and came back with a COPR to trade.

Hard to say. I know in our case, the security check wasn't done until the day they asked for the medical... So perhaps the current bottleneck is CSIS?

They were also hiring agents to work 24x7, so perhaps that's another reason? Possible training causing backlog?

That's because I don't think you pay for the holder fee twice.

Here is an interesting thing I found out while looking at mycic. They read my already approved OWP file at 4:40 PM EDT and at 4:58 PM EDT they read the application. I am guessing they had a quick look, found everything there and approved. Although it is still showing in process. So now we have an idea of how fast they look at it and decide.

Yes, they returned it yesterday and that's why I was confused. Maybe it is a one time payment as you suggested, anyhow, I am happy though. Similarly, I just checked myCIC now and they are requesting for medical which I have completed since last October. I called the call centre a while ago and they told me it has been received but not yet updated on my file. What should I do in this case? Should I call the call centre and tell them about the new medical update or go do a new medical examination?
