April 2023 - Citizenship Applications

Our citizenship tests were marked as completed on July 12th, but received an email yesterday asking us (me and my wife) with "INVITATION TO AN IN-PERSON INTERVIEW WITH A CITIZENSHIP OFFICIAL AND VERIFICATION OF IDENTITY/DOCUMENTS" at Kitchener office on August 1st. The interview invitation letter mentioned "On the day of this event, you will be interviewed by a citizenship officer or agent to verify your identity
and the documents you provided at the time you applied for citizenship."

Not sure the reason for this interview as I don't think everyone is getting them. AFAIK, there should be nothing special with our case as our profile is pretty straight forward (moved in work permit, switched to PR and applying for citizenship now and only traveled to India and USA couple of times).

Let me know if anyone else in this group called for such an interview or attended one, otherwise will update this group once my interview is complete.

From other people's experiences, it's nothing serious and can be very short. Most people get their LLP completed immediately after this interview and get their oaths soon after. I also read somewhere a lady said she was asked there and then if she's ready for her oath...but because she had travel plans, she declined and the officer scheduled her oath for when she planned to return. Once the BG check is completed, it will show on your tracker that when IRCC recevied your FP, before the BG check is actually completed, you can only know by calling IRCC live agent.

When I sign into my tracker account under the update history, it shows that FP received by IRCC on July 9th, but since then no other update, everything is IP except ' test completed and Oath not started, is usual for them to take that long to review the finger prints for BGV

Same here ,my BGC completed on June 3rd ,but didn't receive test invite.
Since I live in Brantford, I believe my office is Hamilton .

wow, that was quick, paper application here with AOR May-19th (wife) and May-31st (me). Nothing yet since then, not even BG checks...

I just saw this on another forum. Same example as I mentioned in the previous response...

"I did inteview in Scarborough office and mine was after test done , they called to in person interview and they asked questions on my documents very easy ones and asked to take oath same day if okay and I took oath and got certificate same day".

Yeah same here , I applied from Burlington and believe my office is Hamilton as well. Last update was Background completed on May 30

My wife and kid's application BG was completed on June 21, 2023, and GU on June 23, 2023. Still no test invite. Montreal.
