Guys I have another question, I have travel plans for December. I am assuming my application won't be done by then, and my pr card expired. I have a valid German passport, do I need a pr card to re-enter Canada?

No, I have permanent residency since 2011. Just want to go home to visit my parents for Christmas.

Normally without a PR card you need a PRTD to enter Canada. In your case you can enter Canada with an eTA based on your German Passport. But how valid it is to do when you have a PR is something I am not knowledgeable about. Will let others chime in.
