My security was done instantly - it started and finished on 9 November (I got PAL day after). I believe this is because it was already done when I first got my IEC visa. So I'm a little annoyed that sat on it for so long but oh well, we got there in the end.
If someone accompanying with you is outside of Canada then it will be passport request for them. Also IRCC may have asked you to send a webform within five days after getting the email for those who are in Canada. Again after this, you will receive one more email for those who are in Canada and you can reply to that email.
You should qualify as exempt but even if you spend $300, just remember what the value of PR is. The $300 is something you'll be wiping your ass with one day in this country.

Congratulations! AOR at 10th month and then moved quickly. No ADR?? Looks like processing at Sydney office (which is also CIO for most) tends to start working on the application late nearing 9~10 months. Folks who got early AOR, followed by MP, ADR / PAL in the mids of 6~8 months and gets movement at 10~ 11th month (standard timeline for non-ee) from this office but can also go beyond 15~18 months for some applicants (and some exception for AIP/NL) .. and with all that, some luck also matters I guess.
