Wow.. At times I think I will take the challenge of waiting when it says 400+ callers ahead but if 36 takes two hours I am totally discouraged.. What time did you dial today (in EST) that you got 36th position ?

and you are right.. There is probably only one phone rep on the other side..uber frustrating.. Me being in USA I don't even know how to reach out for other avenues for help (can't ask for transferring to local offices in Canada like some of you can do or the MP route)..

So it took 2 hours 15 mins. I’m glad that they accepted my request and sent back my citizenship certificate. I didn’t receive it yet but gave a xpresspost tracking number. I’m relieved for now and hoping to have things moving next week.

I need to travel by the end of this month. I need to book a ticket that costs $1000s and I need to book a hotel where I am going to have a place when I first arrived. I am afraid I am not going to get my passport before then, and I am hesitant to book the ticket and hotel so far.

I tried calling right after I read your 38 callers ahead message and I still got 500+ callers waiting ahead.. not sure if it makes a difference if you are inside Canada or outside Canada.. Hope you got some concrete information about your application finally..

Application delivered to the mailroom, Ottawa, March 11, 2022.

When I called Passport Canada on Monday, the agent told me that the application is open and no concerns were noted. She told me my application is in Gatineau and gave me the file number. I asked if I could request urgent processing since my expected travel date is early May. She advised me to wait for another two weeks because there is still plenty of working days until May 6th.

My cc was charged today so I hope that's good news.

Oh boy, the Indian pp surrendering, entry visa and OCI card process all makes me feel like I am creating EE profile all over again.

But this time it will be the Indian CIC who are known for their unique requirements.

But this time it will be the Indian CIC who are known for their unique requirements.

I am in the same boat and in the middle of moving out of province which makes me belong to a different ‘jurisdiction’. The whole surrender and oci process looks scary and pricey. I really don’t understand why they have to charge so much for this. It’s more like a penalty for renouncing your citizenship and wanting to be OCI.

I read in the BLS website that they do 24 hours quarantine to the postal applications lol

Try to book a ticket with flexibility to change dates. Air Canada was allowing free changes for all booking made until March 31st. Not sure they still have it. Hotel bookings are mostly easy to change dates as far as I know.

These are bad news for us, but good they caught the attention of the media. Passport Canada will not do their jobs more effectively until they are forced to, and this negative publicity is one force. Applying in person by the way is not much better. Many offices are booked a month in advance. Unless you are traveling in the next 2 business days, I am afraid you will have to wait.
