I have just received a job offer and am hoping to get from Australia to Canada as soon as possible to start work.
I noticed that the Express Entry Visa can take up to 6 months, which does not suit myself or my employer.
The employer has recommended applying for an IEC visa when they become available but I hear they sell out quite quick.
1st Question: Does anyone know how long till the 2014 Young Professional Visa's were all allocated?
2nd Question: If I do miss out on an IEC visa, what is my next quickest option in obtaining a working visa?
If it helps I have both an Australian & German citizenship/passport.
2. Your employer will need to obtain an approved LMIA and then you will be able to apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. To obtain an approved LMIA, your employer will have to advertise the job for a month first to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. The employer will then have to pay a $1K fee and wait several months for the LMIA to be processed.
FYI - Express Entry can certainly take longer than six months. Your application would not get priority through Express Entry unless your employer obtains an approved LMIA (a job offer isn't enough).
