I am in the process of applying for the outland spousal application, I'm currently living in England, my wife is in Canada.
My wife was living with me for 1 year and 11 months, she came over to the UK on a study permit, then she applied for sponsorship here but was rejected. She was rejected because immigration did not think our relationship was genuine and also of a financial criteria, no where in the specifications did they ask for proof of relationship.
She went back over to Canada in April, I went along with her to stay for a week until I flew back to England. Would my application be rejected since my wife was rejected? With my application I will be sending proof of relationship such as conversations from facebook/skype, letters, photos, bank statements etc.
She will have to list the rejection in the application where it asks if the applicant has ever been refused a visa from any country. She can briefly explain that she applied to immigrate to the UK, sponsored by you, but was refused. Sorry, she does not have to list this - the applicant has to list any times he was refused a visa.
This does not mean you can't be sponsored successfully here. For one thing, Canada does not require a certain income from sponsors of a spouse. However, since one immigration service did not think your relationship was genuine, I would take that as a hint that you need more proof and better proof than you submitted last time. The very fact that she is now trying to sponsor you after being rejected does help show the relationship is genuine.

She is not the applicant in this new app. She is the Canadian sponsor and as far as I remember, there is nowhere in the app that asks about the sponsor's previous immigration apps in other countries.
OP was not refused a visa in the UK case, as he was not the applicant, so he is not required to declare it as a refusal in the Canadian app.
I actually can't think of anywhere in the app where this UK sponsorship refusal must be declared.
"The very fact that she is now trying to sponsor you after being rejected does help show the relationship is genuine."
i dont think thats accurate at all .....they will need a *censored word* more photos , bills , stuff bought on hire purchase , to the same address , letters from family etc etc to prove a genuine relationship .....not just a sponsorship request ...
you say "wife" .... are you married ? where is all the evidence of that ? did you let the uk see all that or did you get married after she was rejected?

Of course just showing that they tried to sponsor in the UK will not be enough. As I said, they will need more proof than they provided last time. However, continuing to try to stay together after a failed sponsorship attempt does help to show the relationship is genuine. If it were fake, they would probably just give up and go their separate ways.
Yes I am married, we got married whilst my wife's visa application was going through, we did inform UK immigration of this. I know with this application that more evidence needs to be included. Where does the application need to be sent to once it has been completed?
