Would I need a new CAQ

Greetings,

I was supposed to start my master's degree at Mcgill University from june 2020 to november 2021. I obtained a CAQ for my studies, valid from march 2020 to april 2022. Due to the ongoing pandemic, I decided to defer my admission, so my program would last from june 2021 to november 2022. My current CAQ is still valid for the majority of the program. Would I need a new CAQ for my deferres studies, or can I use my current CAQ and renew it when it expires?

But Would't it be a problem to apply for my study permit with a CAQ that is not valid for the whole duration of my studies?

Maybe? They would just issue you a permit not longer than the CAQ.
