Working Holiday to Permanent Residency

Hi there,
Really hoping someone here can help me with a question, because I'm tearing my hair out trying to reach a human being on the CIC phone number.

I'm here on a working holiday visa and have now applied for Permanent Residency (skilled worker). My work visa is going to run out while the Permanent Residency is still in progress - am I covered under implied status?

when did u apply and do u get any confirmation from cic that ur case is rcvd. and in process ..

No - you're not.

If you want to keep working after the expiry of your working holiday visa, your employer will have to obtain an approved LMO and then you will have to apply for a closed work permit.

Thanks so much for your help. In the meantime, I should apply for another working holiday visa (IEC), but applications for that specific category don't open until January.
Seeing as the IEC is a type of temporary work permit, could I now apply for an 'extension to temporary work permit' - and then be covered under 'implied status', or are these two completely separate visa channels?

IECs are a special class of work permits that cannot be extended - so no, you cannot apply for an extension.

Yes - you can certainly apply for another working holiday visa (if you qualify).

You could change your status to that of a visitor to cover the time between when your current IEC expires and your new IEC is approved. You obviously won't be able to work during this time - but this will allow you to remain in Canada.

You must confirm from CIC call center, I think you may get an open work permit as you have applied for PR and your case is under process.
