Work permit/years of experience

Is there any regulations about how many years of experience you have to have to apply for a work permit as a cook?My employer offer me a job and help with a work permit, but before we start whole process, need a little advice to make sure, if about 9 month of cooking experience ( plus few more as a volunteer,but have no payslips as an official proof) would satisfied the requirements? Thanks!
