Work permit extension need help

Hi,

I resigned from an employer on march first and got a offer from another employer. But the lmo is refused
Now my work permit expires on April 10. So I called cic they told me to apply for work permit extension.

I have applied for work permit extension on 5 april. They said its implied status you have 90 days to apply for work permit for a new employer.

I want to know when that 90 days starts. Some people says it starts from resignation date. So its already 60 days gone is that right.

Some one please explain?
