Work Permit Application through Buffalo!

Dear Forum Members,

I am a Namibian citizen and currently visiting my parents in Canada (they are here on work permits and have also already applied for PR through the PNP program). As a Namibian citizen we do not require visa's to visit Canada.

While visiting my parents I received a written job offer and an approved LMO ... can I apply through Buffalo for a work permit, or do I have to apply through South Africa (Namibia falls under South Africa)? Does anyone have an idea how long the process will take?

As you are already in Canada, you have to apply through Vegreville, AB.

See CIC website :

New: You now have two options available when submitting an application to change conditions or extend your stay in Canada as a worker:

Submit your application electronically

or
Download, complete and mail your application, including all required documents to the address provided in the instruction guide.

Mail your application to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Vegreville, Alberta

I eventually got hold of CIC in Vegreville and they told me I have to work through Buffalo and not Vegreviile. Apparently if I were under 25 and still being supported by my parents, or a full time student, I could have worked through Vegreville.

It's very confusing, I also read on the website that I have to apply from South Africa (they deal with all the Namibian applications).

So what do I do now????

You can send you application to Buffalo or Seattle or any Canadian Visa or Consulate Office outside Canada.

I went thru Buffalo- every situation is different but I would recommend Buffalo
