Wonder what program allowed you a 5 year visitor record with WP exemption. The only program I can think of is IMP and that was 120 days from what I remember.
Anyways, to answer your question, if your work experience doesn't fall under 3 of these categories, you can use it.
you’re a refugee claimant in Canada
you’re working without authorization
your work experience was gained without temporary resident status in Canada

Thank you for your reply I had Visitors record that was valid for 3 years. I renewed it for another 3 years and then on year 7 changed it to a closed work permit.
So to confirm your response (thank you for taking the time to respond). I was working in clergy and in ontario it says on the bottom of my visa where I was doing my work. I recieved a t4 for my work I can therefore use it towards my pr work experience which is a game changer for me!!!

Google "how Express Entry works". Note this is a points based program and you will need to score 500+ to have a chance of being selected. Start by calculating your points to determine if this path is feasible for you.

Do you have a provincial nomination? Yes, you should be able to use the work experience. Your job probably falls under one of these NOC - 41302(TEER1) or 42204(TEER2).
Your work experience was acquired under R186 for first 6 years and R205(d) in 7th year. All 7 years are valid canadian work experience for EE considerations provided it was a paid position. The job offer you would use to apply should fall under same NOC though.

Thank you for the response
1. I do not have a provincial nomination. IS there a way to get one?
2. The position was a paid position. The way my employer set it up was part of my salary was given as a stipend (tax free) and the rest was salary with taking off taxes and a t4.
3. Yes the visa for the first 6 years says R186!
Thank you for your response. Does that mean I would not be able to use it?
My t4 is from the same organization listed on my visitors record visa comment section with the R186. Does that help matters?
