Dear all,
I have 12 years of work experience In re companies.8 years in one company and 4 years in my current company. My relieving with my previous employer was a mess and they gave me a relieving letter with negative remarks. Although this letter will not be useful for the application process, I want have to get reference letter for this Organization. And I think any trial will not yield a positive outcome. So my question is, is it enough if I only get a reference letter for the past 4 years from my current employer . I will infirm about my previous jobs in the personal history section, will you that be okay? Please guide ..
Yes ,you get maximum points once you have 3 years of work experience and beyond that it is useless .
So definitely ,you can put the old one in the personal history and use the reference letter from the current employer.

Hi,
I have total 8 years of experience across two job codes (1122) & (2173). I have 3.8 years of experience in 1122 (primary job code) and 4.2 years for 2173.
Should I select 6+ years from the below list or 2-3? Which option to select in eligibility score calculation?
Experience
1 year
2-3 years
4-5 years
6+ years
Please help.
Thanks.
I am writing to request clarification regarding the calculation of work experience for the Express Entry system.
I understand that the system requires applicants to enter only the month and year for the start and end dates of each employment period. As a result, there appears to be a possibility that the work experience might be rounded up when determining the full‑time equivalent years for points calculation.
For example, in my case I have the following employment history:
- Job 1 (Company 1): March 2017 to November 2018
- Job 2 (Company 2): December 2018 to February 2020
When calculated precisely, these periods total 34 months (approximately 2 years and 10 months). However, I have received information suggesting that the system might credit this as 3 full years of work experience due to the month/year input format and associated rounding conventions.
Could you please confirm the following:
- Rounding Method:
Does the Express Entry system round the total work experience to the nearest full year based solely on the month and year provided?
- Specific Calculation for 34 Months:
Specifically, if an applicant has 34 months of work experience, will this be calculated as 3 full years for the purpose of awarding points?
- Recommended Input Format:
What exact input format (or additional details, if any) should I provide when entering my employment dates to ensure that my work experience is calculated accurately and without error?
If there is any official guidance or documentation that outlines these calculation and input conventions, I would appreciate it if you could direct me to it.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.
