Work Experience in Canada while a student

Hi, I have worked as a research assistant in a part time basis while I was studying in Canada for almost 2 years which is equivalent to 1 year of full time work. I know that work experience while studying doesn’t count toward the Canadian experience class. How about toward federal skilled work program, would it count? I was reading through the CIC website and it doesn’t say it does count and it doesn’t say it doesn’t. Please advise me in this matter with proper source of information. Or if anyone has experienced this? Thank you very much.
