Ok I am new to this forum, and not sure if this is answered elsewhere.
My wife (us citizen) and I (canadian citizen) were married in Destin Florida on May 8th. I was down in the US on a student visa, when my visa ran out (August 29th) I had to return to Canada and we have been living apart ever since. She had decided that she wants to live up here in Canada and get her PR Card. I was wondering if she can come for a visit, and while she was visiting we could apply for it?
A buddy of mine just did the exact samething his wife came up from the US and when she got here to Canada they applied for her PR Card. He said when she got to the border, they gave her a temporary visitors card. I just want to know what I or my wife have to do to make sure she will be allowed to visit for a lengthy period of time while we apply and get her PR card. She is from Indiana and I would hate to see her travel 12 hours to the border just to get turned away. Any help here would be great. We have all of the sponsorship and PR application ready, just waiting till her semester at school is over for her to move up here..Thanks Again!
