I am a Canadian Citizen and working in Dubai for last 2 1/2 years. I am married for last 3 years. I have not applied for my wife's sponsorship.
I am planning to go back to Canada early next year (2011). Now I have a decision to make. Should I apply for sponsorship from Abu Dhabi/Islamabad and start the process of sponsorship which will take 8 - 9 months OR it be feasible for me to take my wife along with me on VISIT VISA and apply for her sponsorship from Toronto. She can say with me on visit visa untill she get her immigtration papers.
Which process will be faster? If I take her with me on Visit visa how long she can stay there with me on visit visa?
The processing time of inland is 7-8 months, compare to 80% cases of the processing in Islamabad is 14 months, I would say you try to take your wife on a visit visa to Canada and begin your sponsorship once arrived in Toronto.
Usually you can stay up to 6 months with a visit visa.
How long will it take to get the processing done if I take my wife along with me on a tourist visa? Anyone got any ideas?
The other option is that I sponsor her from Canada but she will have to wait in India till that time which might take some time. ANy feedback would be appreciated.

Straightforward inland sponsorships can take a year or more for the total process. If there are any questions from the immigration officers, or an interview is required, or anything is not straightforward, inland sponsorships can take 2 years or more. If you apply outland now, you may even be able to move back to Canada at your planned time with your wife having PR already.

Tourist visas have no impact on processing times. The length depends on whether it's inland vs outland, the processing times at the visa office handling your case, time for the background checking after you've submitted your app, and the level of complications in your app.
You can still take her here if she is approved for a visit visa and apply outland, the only downfall is if they call her for an interview she will have to go home to do it.
