I am an American Citizen. My wife is a Canadian Citizen and carries an American Green Card as a landed resident. Both our children, born in the US, were made Canadian citizens as teenagers and have Canadian Passports. What do I have to do to become a Canadian Citizen? Do I have a residency requirement I have to meet?
First your wife has to sponsor you to become a permanent resident in Canada. In order for her to do that, you and your family must plan to move to Canada. Otherwise, they won't grant PR. Assuming you want to move to Canada and once you are granted PR, you must be physically present in Canada as a PR for 3 years to become eligible to apply for citizenship. It takes about another year after you apply.
