While I'm waiting for my canadian FSW from CHC London, I got my Permanent Residence (Indefinite Leave to Remain) in the UK, in years time I can apply for British Passport. Of course, my Canadian FSW took forever to request the updated documents. Having submitted all my updated documents in Dec 08. At that time it was HSMP (UK) visa on my passport, now it has changed to Indefinite Leave to Remain, will it be a problem if the CIC find out when they request for medical or when they request passport for stamp?????
no, but generally, you are supposed to update CIC with any changes. I don't know if this is something you should update with them or not.
Updating is as simple as sending them a letter.
Thanks for your prompt reply Rupeshari, You are actually a STAR!!!!
Yes, I can send the certified photocopy of my Indefinite Visa to CIC London, dont they think, why I need 2 Permanent residencies in two different countries, I dont know whether legally I can have them?? I think one can have dual citizenship but not 3, because currently I'm a Sri Lankan.
i have two citizenship and applying for PR in canada.
Just because you have PR in UK doesn't mean you don't want to or shouldn't move to canada. Sure you can have two PR. Having a PR in UK is between you and UK. Having a PR in Canada is between you and Canada. Some countries might specify that you cannot have two citizenship (like SL does unless you pay lots of money), but I don't think UK or Canada have specified such a thing.
By the way, who says one cannot have three citizenship. A person who is born to an American and Canadian parents is a citizen of both and if they go get a UK citizenship, now they are citizen of all three. In some countries, gaining another citizenship does not automatically take you away from your current citizenship (like it does with Indians I think), so you could end up with more than two.
The real question for you is whether it is important to update CIC with your current status in the UK or not rather than whether they would care what status you have. I am no expert so someone else should reply.
i dont think so, thats just an opinion. its not a legal opinion.
I can imagine people will change citizenship to something more safe while they wait for their PR for canada. It doesn't mean canada is not hte place where they want to live.
