I work in petroleum sector , my education is bachelor's degree in geology which considered (2113 Geoscientists and oceanographers)
but i got work as petroleum engineer and for about 7 years , my career is considered as NOC 2145 Petroleum engineers.
but in Employment requirements of NOC 2145, it is written "A bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering or in a related engineering discipline is required."
which NOC number is valid in my case ? 2113 or 2145 ? how to chose ? or how to know ?
dear mwrooney
but education is very important , remember you should provide Canadian credential evaluation for your degree !
how could it be secondary ?
The elegibility criteria is the following: you MUST have at least one year of experience in any of NOCs listed for 2014 and MUST score at least 67 points. That's all. Where's no requirement for one's area of education to match primary NOC.
Do not create additional terms and conditions, CIC will not bother about them.
There are 5 factors which confirms your eligibility for Canadian Immigration.
1- Age [BC]
2- Education [ECA]
3- Job Experience
4- Language Proficiency [IELTS/CELP]
5- Adaptability
if you are able to score 67 points in above, you are safe to apply.
For Job Experience, you job description of the experience should match the NOC, that's highly important and the primary thing [ referring the Job Experience]
Once your job description matches and title resembles, they see your education if its up to what they require, like some NOC requirement is bachelors, some masters.
If your JD does not match, they are least to go any further to see education match. Education match is required as that's the employment requirement in canada.
thanks mwrooney
i understood what you say , but not sure if my NOC 2145 which match my JD require special degree or no
this quote from Employment requirements of NOC 2145 "A bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering or in a related engineering discipline is required." while my bachelor's degree is in geology.
i hope there could be another interpretation for this statement
thanks mwrooney
