I need your advice . I want to extend my post graduation work permit . I was eligible for 3 year work permit . But because my last passport expire on May 2011 , the expiry of my work permit is on May 2011 too. I graduated December 2009 . So I think I can extend my post graduation work permit . I renew my passport .
my question is :
which application kit should I fill out ? and where should I send my application ?
I had that same issue a couple months ago. So all you have to do is apply online. here is the link:
cic.gc.ca/English/e-services/post-grad.asp (they wont allow me to post links so i had to delete the www)
You will also need to renew your passport before applying for the extension. To be able to do the application online you will need to register with epass if you have not already done so.
You will also have to pay $150 (again). Also there will be a section in the application form that will ask you for any additional comments or the reason why you are applying, just write that your post grad work permit was issued to the validity of your passport.
I will be happy to answer any questions that u may have about the application.
Hi pmary, i filled out the first one. So I basically filled out the same application twice the first time when i applied for the pgwp and the second time when i wanted to extend it. The supporting documents that i resent were 1).the letter from the school that i got saying that i completed my degree and 2).a copy of the degree itself.
As for the timeline.
I sent out the extension for the work permit around July 22 and I got it in the mail around the first week of September. So i would say it took me about 6-7 weeks because at the time they had a backlog.
I also prefer the online application, because i think its just more reliable than sending it through the post. Also the online application erases the confusion of where to post the paper application to.
hi pmary,
I uploaded the documents in the online application. There is a section in the online application that will ask for supporting documents so when you get to that section you upload your documents. In that section as well you MUST also upload a copy of your new passport which shows the expiration date of the new passport.
