I am gonna take my IELTS for skilled worker class. I was wondering if I should go back to my home country to take the test, as I assume the average score would be higher than taking it here in Vancouver. However the travelling cost may not worth it. Does anybody have some insights into this choice? Thank you very much!

I do not know what you mean by "average" score would be higher than taking it here. The test is standard globally and the questions and points systems are same. The written sections are all similar, the only difference can be in interpretation of your final speaking module.
You can assume that the invigilator in the home country would be more lenient but that could go either way.

Do not worry for the invigilators, you should give it your best shot or try again. I have not heard of this forum or elsewhere who expressed opinion that IELTS scores were lenient in one place vs another.
