Hi everyone,

I applied for a visitor visa in March 2022, to attend an event in Canada but still waiting for a decision. The event is already over now. I want to attend the same event next year so if I apply again now, what will happen to my existing application? Do I have to withdraw my existing application first or I can directly apply again and the existing application automatically gets withdrawn/cancelled?? I am applying from India

Anyone with knowledge and experience, please share your wisdom!! thank you

Old application will get withdrawn automatically!

Thank you all for the information!!
Considering it has taken 6 months already, do you suggest applying again or still wait for the decision?? because I see the backlog has only grown and if I apply again wouldn't it take forever?? The event happens next year in May next year again and i want to attend it.

I suggest reapplying since the event you applied for in the first application is long over. You need to show strong reasons to attend - speaking, exhibitor etc. as well as funds, travel history, ties to home country.

And if I wait longer, i dont know how long it's going to take and also may get rejection as the event i applied for is already over. The event happens again next year in May and i want to apply visa for it.
