Do you know if there are any implications if we fly out of the US before we have ecopr? Hope is that if we don't get it before we fly, we'll get it while we're away.

You can only re-enter Canada via land border in a non-commercial private vehicle from the USA with your eCoPR! You won't be able to fly without your card. This is because, once, your eCoPR is issued, all your temporary resident permits/visas are invalidated!
