Wait 8-12 weeks to apply for Marriage Certificate?!

It takes them about a month to register the marriage.
So if you order the day after your wedding, it will take about a month from order date.
If you order a month/year/decade after your wedding, it will take about 3 days from order date.

I saw it'll take 2-5 business days in BC in 'Cost & Processing Time' section

Marriages are provincial. The message you were confused about was from Ontario.

I dont understand why it is taking so long to get our certificate.its been 12 weeks already and when we called to find out how much more time it will be and theyre saying maybe 14 weeks. Is this normal? We are literally waiting for this certificate to be able to be together it would be nice if i didnt have to wait another 3 or 4 more weeks to get it. Anyone else have this issue?

There is an option to ask for expedited processing. Doesn't mean they will do it but you need to specifically request it. I did and got mine in about a week and a half. Not much you can do now but wait if you didn't request that service upfront.

We just sent a fax this morning actually. Now we are waiting a response, hopefully a positive one.

Had we known it would have taken 14 weeks we have requested it but we were told between 8 and max 10... up until a week ago we werent too worried but now that its possible ill miss the date we expected to apply for this visa, it is urgent. Again this is very frustrating because we were told one thing 3 months ago and now were being told it could be an extra 6 more weeks! Thats a HUGE difference

Strikes could be affecting as well.
