Creating a thread for all EE + PNP Applicants whose Visa Office (VO) is Montreal, to help each one of us track movement within our VO.
I am March 2, 2023 AOR with Eligibility not stared + background in progress as of April 19.
Now IRCC strike is on, so waiting.
I would encourage other Montreal VO applicants to share their timelines and any special situation (covid delay etc) too to help other applicants in tracking & maintaining positivity
They are i am sure albeit in low numbers and for a limited time only. I think its costing nearly $50m / week to PSAC and they have $75m only available directly to them + $200 on loan from other unions. So i doubt if they can sustain for very long as it will deplete all their resources. Anyhow lets hope for faster resolution.
Btw, are you Inland / Outland / PNP ?
FSW (Inland applicant)

AOR- 31 Jan 2023

Eligibility - Not started

Yes it is so weird how they don't have any standardisation since Etobicoke VO is processing files in 2 months and even less. They haven't done anything on my file since 9th Feb.

Strike allowance has to be arranged by Union.
Govt. can’t give strike allowance else it won’t be a strike
Hence, the delay - a political game is in play!
I ordered my GCMS notes on 26TH March and got them on 18th April and that is when I got to know all this. They haven't touched my file post 9th Feb. I think all these steps were part of R10 so they did it.

The union isn't bending and demanding too much I feel.
WFH option for continuation + on confidential residents data + no monitoring is a bit much for govt. to budge on. All govt. asked was for 2-3 days/ week, I mean how lazy can ppl be to return to office. They have excuses like I want to look after my kid etc, I mean no wonder our files are suffering delays!
The wage rise is important but no-govt. can give private industry like wages. Not to forget Govt. employees have lots of other benefits which private workforce never has.
Job Security - I mean one ought to be laid off if you don't work well and deliver in "timelines and set protocols" (now here union wants to differ from private sector lol)
They are trying to privatize govt. staff with extra benefits and any random demand, so absurd.
Govt. will wait for them to bleed on money & get desperate; and then take a call I guess.
