Hi guys
Need your advice I filed in for PR early this year, got SA and now ECAS is IN PROCESS, but no passport request yet, My wife and I have been living in a foreign country for about a year and a half now and we are eager to spend this Christmas with family in Canada. Is it advisable for me to apply for a visitor's visa now that our file is almost at the final stage or just wait. secondly will applying for a visitor's visa affect our application for PR. please share if you had similar situation.
No affect on your PR application if refused, since you already submitted it. I would suggest you put off any plans on getting a visitor visa, because they will soon ask for your passport, and you can't send it in if you're not back home, unless you're able to remain in Canada for at least 3 months and send it to Ottawa.
It's very difficult to get a tourist visa when you have a PR application in process, as one of the PR requirements is that you have intention to live in Canada whilst you have to show the immigration officer you have no intend to stay in Canada and will return home in order to get a tourist visa , so chances are very low...
But if you want to try it would not affect your PR application as long as you provide the same information.
From my experience, I applied for PR in May 2014, 18th September they updated my status to In Process and yesterday October 9th I got my passport requested for visa stamping. Just be patient!!! Good luck!
