My parents have received a visitor visa to Canada about 4 years ago. As their passport expired, so did the visa. My question is: is there a way to extend the expired visa or do I have to re-do all the processes from zero again?

They reapply. There is no extension for expired TRV.

chances are that they will be approved again and their application might be judged under CAN+ category. Approval rates are pretty high if an applicant has already visited Canada in the last 10 years.
