Visitor visa - online app - asked to submit pssport - query

Hi,

I applied for myself and spouse online for Multiple Entry - Temporary Visitor Visa. I submitted the application on July 9, and received an update on July 28, 2013 asking me to submit my passports.

So, I identified that NY and LA are two options. Being based out of Boston, I believe it will be best for me to submit my application in NY? I want to visit Canada In Aug 10-15 week.

If i submit it through the embassy in NY, how long it will take?
Is it advisable to submit it through the VAC? I believe there is a $35.62 fee for passport processing. Is it faster?

Please advise.
