Edit - I applied on GCKey as I was unaware of the new portal. Does that change anything? Should I make an account in the new portal?

Tried reaching out to VO, got generic reply that "background/verification" checks are in progress. Status for "background check" is in progress for almost 3 months now.

Processing time for my country on website is 12 days (4 May) -> 14 days -> 17 days (17 May) -> 19 days (24 May) -> 23 days (1 June) -> 30 days (8 June) -> 34 days (15 June)-> to be continued …
Conclusion: This means if you apply today, you may not wait as long as the processing time shown above. (Canada’s immigration backlog jumps to 2.4 million persons)
