Anyone travel into Canada on or after Feb 22? Do they still force you to quarantine at a hotel even if you have a PHAC exemption?

Hi, I would like to know if anyone's parents who recently entered Canada under PHAC approval for Compassionate reason(provide support & care) were able to get exemption from 3 day mandatory Hotel quarantine or not ?

Yes - you must still complete the hotel quarantine. This is mandatory for all travelers.

Hi I recently stumbled upon this post. I am a PR in Canada, currently 8months pregnant and I applied for my parents visitor visa in January but since VFS was closed the file is still waiting at biometrics stage. I applied for their PHAC approval around 18days back but didn’t receive any reply for them except the automated email about successful submission. I am aware that the PHAC doesn’t usually take that long to revert on file. Is anyone having the same issue.? Or if anyone was able to get approval after the travel ban on India.?

I am permanent resident in Canada. I applied for a visitor visa for my dad in Sep 2020 and it is pending for biometrics.

As I understand, my dad is eligible to travel without any authorization as I have PR.

I see below link which says you can raise a webform to prioritize the application for visitor visa.

I need to know if I raise this webform, what would happen next? Would biometrics be prioritized or would my dad be exempt from biometrics?

Biometrics cannot be prioritized and he wont be exempted from biometrics either. Only few people in the beginning of 2021 were exempted based on emergences and PHAC approval.

Yes, the webform allows an application to be processed in priority for your dad as an immediate family member with you being a Canadian PR. That webform will be helpful if the purpose of travel is a non discretionary one, like to unite with family. It'll be worth doing so.

We have raised this webform right after submitting my mom's TRV on 27th April 2021, yet waiting for a response though.

You will still have an issue because they still need to do biometrics.

Were you exempted from hotel quarantine?

It will depend on why you have PHAC and the potential reason you can't do hotel quarantine. The final decision is at POE.

Biometrics was done in the previously refused TRV application in 2019.

I am not IRCC so can't guarantee but she isn't critically ill and does have you for support.

Well thank you for the insight. FYI the query was raised by the pregnant lady herself and not by her husband. Thanks anyways.
