My dependent also applied paper application on 23rd. She got medical on 27th. Completed medical on 30th at elbit Bangalore. So far no reply from embassy. Still waiting
My wife's application is also showing Under processing. Although CIC website says processing time is 8 days, as per VFS call centre, current processing time is minimum 4 to 8 weeks for TRV at New Delhi consulate.
Since your application is close to a 6 week mark, unless you've already done so, I would suggest contacting the embassy directly through email / case specific enquiry on the CIC website. They should reply within 28 days.
If I may ask can you please tell when did your wife get medical request? and what is the duration of the visitor visa?
I have already sent case specific enq at the cic website, got an automated reply that they could reply in 28 working days. My spouse appln was filed on 26-jul-13, the medical was done on 08-aug-13. The response from the consulate for the medicals was very fast and I was hoping for the visa also at the same pace. But, things are getting delayed a lot.
duration of the visa is till Jan 31, 2014 - the same as my work permit.
I'm wondering why CIC asked for medical for visitor visa less than 5 months (my work permit is valid till Feb 3rd). I just got married (in Sept 2013) and I'm missing her a lot
However, you should follow up with the hospital to make sure that medical test results are sent to the embassy. In my friends case, the hospital sent the medical test results to embassy of a different country !
Did you call embassy at the phone number provided? I'm not sure if they'll answer your questions, however, give it a try.

I had called up the hospital in Chennai and they confirmed that the medicals was completed on 06th aug and the same was send to delhi consulate on 08 aug. Is there any consulate phone number to which i can call and check the status ?
