Visitor/Transit Visa Applicants from USA with flight date b/w Dec 15 and Dec 31, 2017

Hey Guys,

So I applied on Nov 27th for the transit visa and my sister applied on Nov 29th. She received her approval email today (very bizzare) and they have asked her to submit her passport for stamping !!!

Now can someone please help me with below answers:

1) NY consulate is closest to us, so we can mail them our passport. Can we give it to someone local and that person gets our stamp on our behalf?

2) Also if the stamp is done in person, can I take the passport immediately or will I have to wait for them to mail me the passport?

@Nkj222 Thanks for the response! How did you know your's was being processed in LA, since you had applied online as well right?

I do not know where my application was being processed. I just mean I will send my passport to New York because that is much closer.

IRCC call center can confirm the visa office where your application is being processed or you can guess based on your region. For West Coast, it is LA.

Anyone got approvals from Los Angeles Consulate in last 2 weeks, please share your timelines ?

My sister got an approval in less than 5 days after submitting her application!! We are in Minnesota so i think her’s went to NY consulate.

I think NY is processing very random
Because i applied on nov 27th and dint hear back anything yet and my sister applied on nov 29th and received her approval! Is it because she’s on F1? May be dunno, but I’m on F1 too and OPT extension. Thats the only difference between our statuses.

I am F1 too, but waited one month.

Unfortunately, not yet approved. It is still showing up in processing status. Mine is being processed at Los Angeles though. Not sure what can I do here other than try to find flight tickets for another airlines.

Maybe visitor visa goes faster. I actually just need to transit this time, but I applied for visitor visa for the future.

@Nkj222 Are tou confident everything is correct on your application? Did you try calling them on the number i provided?
