Visiting outside Canada after applying for marriage sponsorship PR

Hi.

I am planning to sponsor my wife who is currently in QC, Canada to get PR through spouse sponsorship. She is currently under visitor's visa which ends at the end of May 2025, and she is planning to apply for work permit after she gets the AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) for spouse sponsorship PR application as well. I was wondering if she can visit her home country (Korea) for 3 weeks and come back to Canada after applying for the spouse sponsorship PR. The reason for visiting is that we wanted to do a family reunion and marriage ceremony again in Korea with all family members. Thank you very much in advance for your help and advice!

Thank you for letting me know! I really hope that 2-3 weeks are okay.. Do you think it will help if I come back with my spouse on the same flight to enter Canada? What would be the reason that they do not allow to enter Canada if they do? I am just curious... :S

2-3 weeks is not typically an issue.

Also if the OWP is approved but PR is still pending and have a valid multiple entry visa, they can return soon correct? like they have to make sure to be back before PR is approved?

No need. Would maybe carry a wedding picture on your phone but not unreasonable to travel briefly to your home country to have a second wedding with family.

If they are applying for inland sponsorship (with or without OWP) spouse should be spending the majority of their time in Canada but a short vacation is not typically a concern. It becomes slightly more difficult if approved while abroad because for inland you receive eCOPR and once landed you need a PR card or PRTD to return to Canada. Typically IRCC will confirm that you are in Canada before issuing the eCOPR but not always. If abroad at that point your file may face additional review to ensure you qualify for inland sponsorship.
