You may not have a choice. On the same day I got my COPR I got a second letter telling me to attend the local CIC office to complete the process. It was done by appointment. I understand they are trying to cut down on the immigration workload on the CBSA so they can concentrate on their own work.
Got a passport copy request. It's another option for what you might get next. Sometimes they don't send the COPR right away, but want a copy of a passport, 2 pictures and biodata form.
Technically, you don't need it for CEC class, but if you HAVE a healthy bank account and don't mind printing out a current statement, it doesn't hurt to have it. Avoids any debates/disputes...
I'm an applicant from England so also visa exempt. Timeline as follows:
App received July 18th 2014
AOR sept 22nd
RCMP request jan 29th
Medical request march 28th
Medical done April 1st
Medical received (ecas status updated) April 8th
Rprf fees paid up front April 1st
I'm guessing from some of the timelines, I still have another couple of months to wait but hoping it'll be sooner!

I just checked my last GCMS notes and mine said the same thing under "Client Details".
But I got my COPR, and on my COPR letter they sent me it says, "Because you and your dependants are nationals of a visa-exempt country, you will be issued the CPR document only. No visa counterfoil will be issued."
Hi
My ecas status changed first week of February. No copr yet? Have called cic and apparently my application was approved. They can't say how long it will take for papers to arrive. My work permit expires end of June. What are my options? Thanks
This delay is concerning to say the least.
I am not sure what you can do but if I were you I would certainly make this an issue with your local MP.
Totally unacceptable.
