I was working in the USA for the last three years on an H1B visa. Recently, when I came to India for my visa stamping, the visa officer refused my visa under misrepresentation. This is because when I completed my Masters in USA, I was briefly associated with a firm as an unpaid volunteer for 4 weeks in the year 2018. Then I got a full-time job and left that firm. In 2020, that company came under issues and since I was associated with that firm in the past (year 2018), my visa was refused recently. After I explained my situation to the visa officer that I had no idea about all this, she agreed that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and she marked my refused visa application eligible for a waiver if I ever wished to re-enter the US and apply for a visa.
However, I have decided not to go and work in the US. I want to apply for PR in Canada. In my PR application, I will be honest and explain my situation. My question is because my US visa was refused like this, will this cause issues for me to get a PR in Canada?

No one knows for sure.
I would say no. Just be honest and let them know what happened.
