Anyone know if the outcome of US election will have an effect on the outland US to Canada family class application processing times?
Seriously inquiring.
I'm curious to see if anyone knows if this will effect the processing times since some people will try to be fleeing the US..?

I am concerned as well but I doubt we'll know the elections impact until we start seeing the progress of current application processing times compared to before the election. Hoping it won't extend the wait even more than it currently is!

I laughed pretty hard when I read this... good on ya! +1!

In all fairness, it's possible to increase the load at CPC-O (where most American cases end up), but I think it will be only slight until after the 2nd or 3rd recount. Afterward, we might just need to petition the Liberals to open the refugee program up...

cic.gc.ca crashed yet again due to the election

It's been slow or unresponsive since they started talking about exit polls this morning.....

It's funny... Canada seems to be every one's contingency plan. Brexit, US Elections (lots of them!), etc. I don't know how I should take that ;)

I do recall having issues loading up ECAS today, so I guess you're right..

I guess it will be out for the next few weeks? Maybe there really will be a problem at CPC-O!

I also have this concern. My lawyer advised that we have our application before Election Day and we overnighted it to Mississauga for last friday morning. We had to wait until after Oct 28th to establish common law. So tight window!

We paid for tracking and a signature from FedEx, and we received confirmation from them (not our AOR1 yet) so now we pray.

Best of luck to all the other Americans trying to come to Canada for non-election-related reasons!

I don't see this having much of an effect, except possibly at the initial processing levels with a bunch of people submitting applications that end up not being valid, but I'd assume those would get tossed quickly. There are a bunch of very confused people on my Facebook feed tonight who don't seem to understand that you can't just...you know...apply and get in and move, without meeting a lot of qualifications. I gave up trying to explain it to people after a while. Once people figure out it's not as simple as it looks, it'll probably die out. People threaten these sorts of things every election cycle.

I am glad that my husband and I started our relationship and got married when we did, because what I would worry about for Americans down the line is coming under extra scrutiny (at least for a brief period) as to whether the relationship is genuine in case someone's just trying to escape as a Trump refugee.

I'm unable to access MyCIC at all, but I was able to log in to ECAS fine a few minutes ago. Hopefully things clear up tomorrow. Still in shock.

Yes, there is a lot of misunderstanding about the Canadian immigration system. The vast majority of Americans who have stated they will move to Canada won't actually qualify.
