Hi All,

Quick Question:

In Canada on Visitor Status, Came here 5 Months ago. I'm married to a Canadian Citizen and am living with them in Canada.

We have filled out and submitted the PR application for Spousal Sponsorship (Inland). I am going to apply for a Open Work Permit once my PR application reaches that stage and i receive my AOR.

My question is, because by rule you are only allowed to stay in Canada as a Visitor for 6 months, and i am 1 month away from reaching that date. Do I need
to apply to extend my visitor status?? I have been reading some conflicting information. Some people say it is not required because "lack of status
does not apply to inland spousal application and i have read that you need to because you cant be with out status.

So should I or should I not apply to extend my visitor status and if so, what do i say? Staying more than 6 months, staying permanently in the portal?

Thanks,

You need to apply to extend your stay. If you don’t you will be out of status.
