Hi everyone,
I have a question about updating my SIN Number after receiving permanent residency. Should I necessarily update my SIN right after getting COPR, or is it okay to wait about 1.5 months until I receive my PR card to make the update?
thanks

It depends.
Why would you wait?
What is it depend on?
I’m filing my tax and prefer to go with the old SIN to keep things simple.

Is it a problem if I wait to update my SIN until after I receive my PR card?

Would personally not suggest this you are no longer a temporary resident. I’m not sure why you are reluctant get a permanent SIN#. It will have no impact on your taxes.

I used to work for the Government and dealt with SIN’S
As soon as someone told me their SIN and it started with a Nine , most of the time the conversation stopped
Even if you hold PR, and if you haven’t updated your SIN , to me , you’re still a temporary resident in the system
Seriously don’t understand why people want to make things more difficult for themselves now, and potentially the future
