You'll never until you apply for admission. Electrical Engineering is not that competitive in UofC because it seems everybody wants to get admitted in Petroleum Engineering. Your profile is enough to get in. Just add 3 well-written reference letters and an impressive study plan, I think you'll have a shot. Just take note of the deadlines as international students are required to apply 4-6 months before the start of the term.
i am applying for fall 2014 can any one guide me what to do after account is created ,it shows just a option to upload unofficial transcript ,so
whether i would have to send my transcripts (btech in ece ) to university by mail or courier or it can be scanned and uploaded also .plzz guide me as it is urgent
You need to do both. On the portal...scan and upload your transcript and provide email ids of your referees. If I am not wrong then you need to upload your CV too. While you send your official transcript hardcopy and degree certificate with degree statement through mail. So make sure you send those through DHL or something while upload the rest of the stuff on the portal.
At least this was what I had to go through and I am assuming its the same for every dept.
Good luck
Guys...who all are gonna be there in Calgary this January. People waiting for admission and visas for Jan intake, please let me know when you get them. I am looking for a company there. It'd be helpful in looking out for accommodation and other logistics.
We can decide things in advance. I am gonna land in Calgary on 26th of Dec.
I am still waiting for the decision on my application for Jan14 intake. The ECE department is saying that they have not yet taken decision for any application.

DOES ANYONE KNOW MY CHANCE O GETTING ENROLLED FOR MTECH IN ECE ???I AM WORRIED ABT DECISION
Hi! I'm not sure if you'll be receiving this message or not but I read your activity and it managed to answer many of my doubts. I'm applying for MSc in Chemical with specialization in Petroleum in Fall 2014. I have 83% in 10th, 76% in +2, CGPA of 7.02 in B.E. Chemical from Thapar University, Patiala. I have a 1.5 years of research experience from IIP Dehradun. I wanted to know about my chances of getting selected in the course, from the people you might have met there in Calgary. Thanks. Really appreciate it if you reply.
I have applied in the University of Calgary for the September 2014 intake for the Masters in Computers Science program. Following is my my profile:-
I had applied on 1st Feb 2014. ( Within the deadline )
10th : 90%
12 : 61%
B.Tech: 70%
IELTS : 7 BANDS ( Writing: 6.5; Speaking: 6.5; Listening: 7; Reading: 8 )
Work Experience: 7 months & presently employed.
The admission requirement as stated on the University Department page states that " an IELTS score of 7.5 is required". Sadly, I have just scored 7 and 7.5 is the required score for IELTS. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT SHOULD DO. DO I HAVE A GOOD CHANCE OF GETTING AN ADMISSION IN UofC? I am so worried because I want to get into the University of Calgary at all costs.
Rinkesh, increase your chance of getting admitted by improving your scores in IELTS. You said you'll do everything at all cost. An extra $200 won't hurt that much... Your profile must be really competitive so that the university graduate office can provide you admission. Good luck!
