Greetings, I am a Canadian citizen and completing the forms for sponsoring my wife(British citizen) and have the following question relating to the Sponsorship Evaluation form (IMM 5481). It requests an Option-C printout. I have not lived in Canada for 7+ years. Does anyone have experience providing UK documents that would demonstrate whatever it is the Option C form does, if so what did you send them?
Hi. You don't need a UK equivalent of the Option C printout. If you read the Document Checklist they tell you that if you are not submitting Option C, to attach a letter explaining the reason why. Option C is mainly to check if you have been on welfare or have declared bankruptcy in Canada. Just attach a letter explaining why you do not have an Option C printout (i.e. you have not lived in Canada for 7+ years and have not filed taxes here). If you wanted to be very thorough, you could also attach a letter from your employer stating that you have been employed there for X number of years. I personally did not include Option C and provided a letter explaining why and we had no problems. My husband was still granted his visa. See here also for a similar situation: http://www.settlement.org/discuss/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3891
One thing I recommend being in a similar situation to you is provide them with sufficient evidence to show your intentions to reestablish yourself in Canada. That would be looked at more than the Option C Printout. Explain like ariell said but be sure to show enough that you do intend to live there.
