How long does it typically take to apply for a TRV online from inside Canada. I know they are processing past september 15 as found on their website.

Anyone apply from inside recently? how long did it take for a passport request.

That's way beyond the processing time. Have you sent a case specific enquiry ?

I applied on the 5th of October. Still waiting for passport request, it says 8 days as the current processing time.

So, I got the passport request on October 14th. I sent the passport the same day. The passport arrived at the embassy on October 16th. I enclosed an empty xpresspost envelope for the return. The trackign number has not been activated, so they haven't sent it back. Also, no news on the online application.

i think it take about two and a half weeks for tracking to be activated.

That is insane. For a process that they claim to take 7 business days on their website, and that in the past took me about 10 business days in total, it is now taking about a month and a half.

And that is inside Canada. Some colleagues who applied for a visitor visa from the US in June, as they were planning to come to Canada for a conference in late September. They didn't get their passports back until after the conference had started.
