Can you let me know whether the two year period that a person spends in US after taking his PR in Canada would be deemed to be the period of stay in Canada for the purpose of retaining PR status. My son plans to go over to Canada, take his SIN card and would be proceeding to join a US University for doing a Masters' program for two years. Will he be eligible to retain his PR assuming he continues to study further in US beyond his Masters.

I landed on 7th August 2011 and immigration stamping document says, "Became PR on" : 7th August 2011. Stayed for 5 days and left canada.
PR Card Received later with Expiry of 5th October 2016.
If i enter on 22nd Sept. 2014 am I meeting PR obligation? ie. whether they will count 5 years from 7th August 2011 to 6th August 2016 ? or 5 years back from 5th October 2016 ?
You will not be meeting your PR obligation if you return Sept 22, 2014. That is because it will be over 3 years since you left Canada on Aug 12th, 2011. So there is a chance you will get reported by immigration when you return and can potentially lose your PR. The chances of this depend on many many variables so it is impossible to answer. But since your PR card itself has not expired, you stand a decent chance of entering Canada without being reported.
