Hey All, Looking for some advice regarding Super Visa.
I'm planning to apply for super visa for my mom. She currently holds a tourist visa which is valid till the end of 2024.
For the super visa application, I'm thinking of mentioning the purpose is to visit family and spend time with them.
Is it necessary to keep the duration of stay to be more than 6 months ? - The only reason I'm asking this is cause she is already holding a tourist visa.
Will there be chances of rejection if the duration is less than 6 months as it sounds illogical to apply for super visa when she already has a tourist visa ?
TIA

Why do you want to apply for super visa if they don't want to stay for more than 6 months? Super visa is available so that you can stay in Canada for more than 6 months giving the option of 5 years + 2 years extension.
If you know they are going to stay for a lesser period then why you want to spend money on Medical tests, insurance (1year with 100K coverage) especially when they already have a Visitor Visa.
if you think they may extend their stay to 6 month's + you can always apply for extension of another 6 months while they are in Canada.
My personal opinion would be to apply for super visa after visitor expires, or after they return to India after their visit.

@tankala13 - The actual idea is to stay for a longer period of close to 5 years in Canada. She is about to retire from her job and is planning to travel to Canada to stay with my brother for a period of 5 years.
If i mention the above in the purpose of travel, isn't there a chance for rejection ?
Instead of the retirement plan,
i was thinking of mentioning that she will be taking a long leave and has plans to travel. Which approach should i use ?

I think it should be ok. I would say apply for Super visa and mention that she would like to spend time with more as its nearing her retirement. If they are allowing you to stay for 5 years, dont think that should be the reason for rejection. Only point to prove is how she will show she is going to return back after 5 years.
You would need to show strong ties with India for your mother, e.g. pension, properties and investments etc etc...Gold as well.

So for the visit visa we had kept - Property, Mutual Fund Investments, FD and an official letter from the office mentioning that she would join office.
I'm thinking of mentioning period of stay as 7 months and to get the company to generate a similar letter for a long leave. Would that be fine ?

Yes should be ok, I believe. Joining back shows intent to travel back

@tankala13 - Does this sound like a reasonable purpose of travel ?
"I had recently visited Canada for 4 weeks and had quite an enjoyable time with my son and daughter in law. However, i had very little time to explore Canada. During my visit, my son had shown me pictures of how beautiful Canada is during the different seasons and I wish to experience them and explore more monumental locations. For this, i have decided to take a 34 week (8 Month) sabbatical from my job."
