If a temporary resident visa holder (be it a visitor or a worker) forgot to apply for an extension and/or change of conditions of his temporary status in Canada, at least 30 days before the expiry of his status, can he still apply for extension before his status expires? If so, would this person still be eligible to stay in the country till he gets an approval/rejection?

So one can still apply for an extension, even if it's not applied for at least 30 days in advance? For example, status expires on March 31st, application can be sent on March 16th?
